Oh, and Neil Patrick Harris is another reason. He's the best thing in How I Met Your Mother and he was a pretty good singer in Assassins. He's too cute in this :) I felt so sorry for him. Oh how I hated Captain Hammer. Ew. My sister just reminded me that he's that stuck up guy in Blast from the Past. Ew. Captain Hammer is the real villain in the show. Poor Dr. Horrible.
I also LOVED the songs. My favorite is "My Freeze Ray", such a cute and funny song. I also liked "My Eyes" aaand.. "Everythig You Ever". Those two songs are ~so dramatic~ I love it. NPH is too adorable for words. :o I think they'll be continuing the series and I'll definitely look forward to it.

How could I have missed out on this show??????
Well, to answer my own question, I was like 8 when this first showed so I wouldn't really be able to watch it. Haha. My sister used to collect Tiger Beat magazines with Jared Leto's face plastered all over the covers (Hmm.. occasionally, actually. I think JTT's face was more prominent in the covers). And when 10 Things I Hate About You came along, I never got the pretty boy references. He wasn't pretty in my opinion.
Until I finally watched this freakingly short-lived TV series.
It's so emo, angsty, silly, dramatic and funny. Claire Danes was pretty decent in this, even if I still dislike her for being a horrible actress in Little Women and Romeo and Juliet. If it's true that the show was not renewed partly because of her having second thoughts with the show, ugh I hate her more. Anyway, it's so sad that they did not renew the series for a second season. The show has effectively made me care about the characters. The story also got better when Angela *finally* pays attention to cute/annoying Brian Krakow's feelings.
At first, I thought Jordan Catalano/Jared Leto is the answer to all the fangirl crushes in this planet. Too bad I only realized that 13 years after the show started. As the show progressed, I realized that he's not all that and his laconic ways were NOT endearing anymore. His hair also got long so that mattered a lot too. He's hot, with his occasional staring-into-space and closed-eyes stance but Brian Krakow is the more decent human being. Sort of. Brian Krakow was really annoying and stupid at times but he's one of the sweetest character in the entire show.
Rayanne.. hmm. It's hard to not like/dislike her. That was really low of her and Catalano to do that to Angela. Sigh. Sharon was easy to hate with her perkiness and hypocritical ways. And Rickie! The other sweet character!! :D I thought the show had too much PDA of Angela's parents but it did get me wondering whether Gram will give in to ~temptation~. Patty is soo annoying.
I wish they didn't end in a cliff-hanger though. Sigh. I guess Brian and Angela hooking up will only exist in my imagination.
My favorite episodes are Self-Esteem (the ending was sweet), Weekend and In Dreams Begin Responsibilities.

**Contains spoilers if you haven't seen series 2.
It started out ok. Too much Maxxie though. And then, series 2 reached its peaked in Chris's episode (Chris/Jal!)... And it all came tumbling down after that episode.
In short, series two was a major disappointment.
It was too dramatic and sad. They didn't have to kill him! Anwar didn't have a single episode so I didn't really pity him in the final episode. I was more concerned with Sketch. And Cassie in New York? I think the creators just wanted an excuse to go the US. However, I firmly believe that Sid found Cassie. Just like in the finale of the first series. They're my favorite pairing, even if their relationship was totally blah this season. And I absolutely loathed Michelle. Ick.
Overall, I only liked the following episodes: Sketch, Chris, Effy and some parts of the finale. The others were so-so. Oh and I LOVED the Skinscast!! I always look forward to it.
I still want to buy the DVD though. Of course!!!!! I still love the characters and the show, despite the disappointing season. I will miss this cast :( I'm not too crazy with the idea of a new cast, but they can't really play the same roles forever. Other teen shows crash and burn because some viewers lose interest. It's usually the same problems all over again, season after season. Diminishing marginal utility!!
ANYWAY: HELP! Do you know anyone who is planning a trip to UK anytime soon? Shipping will cost a LOT if ever I plan to have it shipped here or in the US.

A college dropout, Georgia "George" Lass is killed by a toilet seat that falls from the MIR space station on her first day at a temp agency. Upon death, she is recruited for a team of grim reapers - undead who mix among the and take people's souls just before they die. Along with fellow team members Mason, Roxy, Betty, and leader Rube, George discovers life after life. (from imdb)
How could you not love this show??! I heard about the show after learning that it has the same creator as Pushing Daisies. The creator has a some sort strange obsession with death but thankfully, his shows manages to be quirky and funny.
I really though Ellen Muth/Georgia was played by a BOY... with long hair. Her voice is soo bland and monotonous. It worked really well in the show though. And Mandy Patinkin (Iñigo Montoya!) still looks great after all these years. I think Callum Blue is sooo cute. I wish he and Georgia would hook up at some point but alas... I haven't watched the second season yet so this post will be updated.

After 8 or so years of reading it in American magazines, I have finally watched Freaks and Geeks. I used to buy the US version of Seventeen/Teen/YM and they always feature this as an "up & coming show" and later on, a "cult show". Unfortunately, the show was cancelled after one season because of low ratings.
I really hate it when they cancel really good shows. Like Young Americans!!!! It had a cliff-hanger ending and they aren't even planning on releasing a DVD! On a more positive note, I am soo glad that Freaks and Geeks did not end in a cliff-hanger. Sure, I was sort of curious if Lindsay and Nick got back together again... however, I don't mind it that much since they both hooked up in real life!!!! lol.
I never found James Franco attractive...until now. I absolutely LOVED him in the episode where he says the same story to convince people that he had a troubled childhood so they should give him some slack. Priceless. I also didn't like Kim Kelly the first few episodes, until she and Lindsay became friends. Oh, and Sandlot people alert! And of course Judd Apatow connections. I've only seen 40 Year Old Virgin though. Hehe.
The pacing is slow *sometimes* but other than that, I loved the show. Funny, cute and weird. Don't you just love the 80s?

I have just finished watching the first series of E4's Skins and I loved it! Very addictive. Although I wouldn't recommend the show to kids their age. I also don't think this will ever air here because of the substantial amount of drugs, nudity and cursing.
Do stuff like that really happen? At least in the UK? Anyway, the show is really entertaining. The music is pretty great too. I like almost all of the cast members.
And as usual, I end up rooting for a "love team". I like Sid and Cassie's. Sid is my favorite character. Mike Bailey singing "Wild World" in the series finale was one of the best scenes. And I think Maxxie is really sweet and utterly cute. He needs more screen time! Poor Anwar. Jal always looks angry and I wish she has more screen time in the next series. Chris is funny and weird and sort of cute. Tony hmm.. I still can't believe that he's the same kid from About A Boy. I didn't like Michelle that much. I can't believe Sid likes (liked?!) her. Eww.
I was sort of disappointed when I learned that it wasn't really Nicholas Hoult singing On The Street Where You Live. Aww.
I can't wait for series two which starts really soon! I'm watching Unseen Skins later, as soon as I get *some* of my work done.
Adding this to my DVD Wishlist as well.
